Colorado! Another famous landmark in the USA! I don't recall many people visiting USA not stepping foot in the Colorado National Parks. The accommodation is vast and meets all budgets and individual needs. Ancient Native America is an absolute must see !

I really enjoy visiting National Parks and while the US does not have as much deep history as places in Europe, it makes up for it with these destinations.

They are a great way to enjoy the outdoors as well as get a feel for the Native American culture as Stephanie mentioned. I will be sure to check this out if I am ever in the area.

Good to know. We heard somewhere, perhaps on Amateur Traveler, that the monument is actually off by quite some distance ... they did a recent land survey and found some of the boundaries were off. Or something like that.

Enjoy your UK jaunt next month!

I've been to Mesa Verde twice, once as a kid and once last summer, and it is one of the coolest National Parks in the US. The cliff palaces are so unique and well preserved in a country where very little of Ancient Native American culture is preserved. The area is also sparsely beautiful in it's own right.

I wouldn't go too far out of my way to see the actual four corners monument- it's quite tourist- trap-y.
