Hot stuff, coming through!

Hot stuff, coming through!

Every six months we try to take a look back over the Indie Travel Podcast archives and root out our favourite posts, podcasts and videos. This year is no different, so let’s see what has been hot in the first half of 2009…

Top podcasts

Our favourite recording this year was episode 100

Without a doubt, our favourite recording this year was episode 100. It just feels so nice to be in triple figures and we took the opportunity to talk through our last three years of full-time travel. This was also the first podcast to be recorded in our home country of New Zealand.

Guide to Paris, FranceOur guide to Paris, France was a popular topic and came with the bonus of a free walking tour around Notre Dame Cathedral. Make sure you visit the page, add your thoughts on Paris and download that sweet extra for your next visit.

A surprising favourite on the stats was our advice for slimming down your toiletries kit. This is an area where we constantly overpack — and packing light is about as close to a holy commandment as it gets in the long-term travel community. Like all good advice, this is straight-forward, practical and doesn’t rely on expensive alternatives.

Rather than re-capping our reviews here, let me point you towards episode 112, where we discuss some of our favourite — and not so favourite — travel product reviews over the last few months.

Upcoming

Indie Travel Podcast MagazineWe have some exciting upcoming projects which we’d like to introduce. The first, we’ve already started to talk about — the Indie Travel Podcast Magazine is being released on September 1. A magazine gives us creative control over page layout and style…and we want to create something beautiful, exciting and practical for us all. Read more about the Indie Travel Podcast Magazine here.

I don’t know why, but people have been asking us about Indie Travel Podcast clothing! We did a test run with a quality, local screenprinter and are quite happy with the results. Once we agree on a final price and sort out the postage costs, we’re going to have some Indie Travel Podcast t-shirts and hoodies available for you.

And before you go…

Make sure you enter the Rough Guides giveaway before July 16. We are drawing three winners to choose a guidebook of their choice.
