The Yourambulla Caves, located in the Flinders Ranges in South Australia, house Aboriginal cave art. Aboriginal Cave paintings were never meant to be permanent works of art, rather the paintings were used as teaching devices; you might think of them as blackboards or sketched maps which have survived thousands of years.

Near the entrance to the cave is an informative board with a key to help you puzzle out some of the symbols’ meanings.

Cave art is one of the rarest forms of human art, and well written article, thank you for that. I have always admired cave art.
