Stephanie Pelser commented on the post, Top dishes to try in South Korea, on the site Indie Travel Podcast April 11, 2012 5:36 pm

a post to my liking! Ddeokbokki, rice cakes in spicy sauce from street vendors anywhere are missing, also pajeon and other pancakes with dips, bibimbap and also Korean ramyeon – best instant noodles in the world, […]

Stephanie Pelser commented on the post, Best places in Asia January 26, 2012 12:35 pm

hum, we seem to have very different tastes after all, maybe you’ll hate Osaka ;) – I loathed Chiang Mai and Ho Chi Minh City but I’m a grumpy anti-social person who hates touristy places. My Asian favourites last […]

Stephanie Pelser commented on the post, Roomorama review – our first apartment rental December 9, 2011 2:44 pm

Wow, you’ve been really lucky with Roomorama! I have tried a few similar sites and twice have found myself in a paid ‘couchsurfing’ situation although it was advertised as ‘whole flat for rent’. Now I love […]

Stephanie Pelser commented on the post, An alternative guide to London December 2, 2011 9:51 am

I only realised now I didn’t supply any pictures for this (haha, die Good Ship doesn’t look very inviting! The charm of NW London) – there’s a good chance I’ll be in London in March, could show you around some of […]

Stephanie Pelser replied to the forum topic solo travel in the south of India…good idea? in the group Group logo of Asia travelAsia travel November 11, 2011 8:19 am

I haven’t been but I keep hearing from people who have travelled there and South Indians alike, that the South, especially Kerala, is a world away from other parts of India and much ‘saner’ and easier to […]

Stephanie Pelser wrote a new post, An alternative guide to London November 7, 2011 10:49 am

Stephanie Pelser started the forum topic working as you travel – work/travel balance in the group Group logo of The caféThe café: September 17, 2011 5:49 am

I was wondering how others who work ‘on the road’ handle this issue, especially with regards to where you are staying. I am three months into my ‘big trip’/'new life’ (not entirely sure yet) and try to put in around 4-5 hrs work every day. For the first to months I was relatively set in [...]

Stephanie Pelser wrote a new blog post: Things do in Osaka, Japan September 1, 2011 12:00 pm

ThumbnailThis article follows on from A guide to Osaka, Japan , published recently here on the Indie Travel Podcast. Osaka is an incredible city, full of quirks and culture. It’s a great place to base yourself during your time in Japan, due to its proximity to other cities as well as for what it has to offer for [...]

Stephanie Pelser wrote a new blog post: A guide to Osaka, Japan August 29, 2011 12:00 pm

ThumbnailDue to the devastating earthquake/tsunami in the north-east of the main island Honshu and the ‘what if’ looming over the nuclear power plant in Fukushima, Japan has seen visitor numbers plummet. It shouldn’t have, because there are many awesome areas in the country that are perfectly safe to visit, such as Osaka. Osaka lies about 60 [...]

Stephanie posted on the forum topic Solo travel: What to do with my stuff when I need the bathroom? in the group Group logo of The caféThe café: August 9, 2011 12:05 pm

I think it depends on where you are. I would ask someone in NZ, and there are countries where you can literally leave your wallet in the central station for hours and return to find it safe, sound and complete (hello Japan). Wouldn’t do it in poorer countries or Europe’s pickpocket hotspots. I’d always keep [...]

Thanks for asking, I am safe and sound in Japan all month (Osaka, which is why I had to submit that article at last). Lots of small earthquakes in Tokyo though, which don’t make the news. Friends in London are all ok and keep telling me how the media is blowing this all up. I don’t know, it’s hard to tell.
