Why do we love travel? What’s the kick that keeps us on the road? What drives us to wander?
These are some of the questions Indie Travel Podcast hosts Craig and Linda attempt to answer in this episode. As well as sharing personal perspectives and stories, they bring in a range of answers from Twitter.

We also quote from Nora, the professional hobo, who asks if full-time travel is an act of withdrawal:
For [my acquaintance], ducking out of society (at least the society we grew up in) means shirking responsibilities, and ultimately depriving society of the many talents we have to contribute.
What do you think about that?!
This really is a show you need to listen to in order to get, but make sure you join Craig and Linda on Twitter and the Indie Travel Podcast on Facebook to be part of future shows.
There’s a couple of great blog competitions on at the moment. Europe a la Carte is give away a year’s subscription to the Indie Travel Podcast Magazine and Nomadic Matt is giving away an iPod touch and other prizes.
LOVE this. Wonderful thoughts from the community (yes, Craig – community

I had a look at the Spaceship too – holy smokes that is cool. Didn’t realise it was like a whole “lifestyle” on wheels.
October 3rd, 2009 at 10:52 amI want to travel because i dont believe that you can know where you want to be in this world unless you have seen a good portion of it.
October 3rd, 2009 at 12:47 pm@Poe That’s true. The only place is having the discipline to stop for a while when you find somewhere you like! I regret not spending a few months in Sofia … but I’m sure we’ll be back one day.
October 3rd, 2009 at 12:58 pmI love it. I love to travel too, haha.
October 19th, 2009 at 8:10 pmMy love for travel stems from the search for meaning in my own life which encourages me to visit sites which might just have escaped the spectre of globalisation, just looking for the chance to see the past before it disappears. I guess the catch 22 is that globalisation not only increases the speed with with these cultures disappear but also increases the speed & ease with which we can travel to see them. The freedom we are granted as backpackers ultimately entails the freedom to change the very places we travel to see, as our own travel impacts upon the unchanged and authentic cultures we travel to see.
January 29th, 2010 at 11:41 pmTravel opens our minds to other people and ways of doing things. It’s a reminder that there are many opportunities in life. It shows us how different people are, while at the same time reminding us how similar we are.
