028 – Interview: Along the West Highland Way

August 31, 2007 in Scotland

The Indie Travel Podcast recently took a little hiatus while Linda and Craig walked Scotland’s longest walking track: the West Highland Way.

For your listening pleasure, this month’s interview segment gives you some ‘on the road’ thoughts from some of the people we met.

What is the West Highland Way?

The West Highland Way was Scotland’s first official long distance route. Originally conceived in the 1960s, it was completed in October 1980. The Way links Milngavie to Fort William — a distance of 152km (95 miles) – from the outskirts of Scotland’s largest city to the foot of its highest mountain, following the shores of its largest freshwater loch. It passes from the lowlands, across the Highland Boundary Fault and on into the Scottish Highlands. Source.

And would we recommend it? Absolutely! Craig walked about 50 kilometers in his Vibram FiveFingers, talked about a few shows ago. Listen to hear what he thought about them and the WHW.

There are no transcripts for interviews.

  1. Just catching up with all of your podcasts – which are great, this one in particular is fantastic and reminded me of my own walking trips.
I can highly recommend the Coast to Coast walk – I have blogged about my trip at http://cjw.me.uk/?p=54 – it was one of the most social walks I have done meeting a whole host of people.
This year I hope to do the Pennine Way…
