Thank you for sharing these stories. I, too, have noticed that the Couchsurfing website could use a redesign. In any event, your reports give me confidence.

Travel and games: my two favorite things (after my wife)!

Yes, to both questions! :)

Couchsurfing has been really, really good to us over the last two weeks. The site is a bit of a nightmare to navigate, but the people and the opportunities it represents are amazing. We've had so many people treat us so well. Of course, staying with people, rather than in a hostel, means it can be a bit difficult to switch off at times but it's a worthwhile trade!

Friends of ours are into board gaming in a big way and, after they introduced us to it last year, we're hooked. In fact, we started up a gaming company together -- which is that site, Seriously Board - NZ board games. My favourite game right now is probably Endeavor, but the Catan card game packs down nice and small: a deck of cards, two dice and a couple of markers.

So I'm guessing you would recommend couchsurfing to other newbies? And oh boy, here comes my nerdiness: I love Settlers of Catan! Are you hooked?
