A little of everything and travel review roundup podcast, take two

In this podcast we apologise profusely for not recording an episode for a few weeks and talk about what we’ve been up to during that time, as well as discussing recent reviews.

To listen, hit play below or find episode 283 in iTunes, Stitcher or Soundcloud:

The review section of the site is growing steadily, and over the past few months we’ve added to it substantially. Since we’ve been travelling in Germany, there’s certainly a focus on this area of the world, but we’ve also got some reviews from the US as well as some great book and gear reviews.

Accommodation

Where you stay plays an important part in how you experience a location, and we’ve stayed in some pretty awesome places, such as a castle (the Nuremberg YHA), a luxury hostel (Hotel Köln), a quirky hostel (Superbude) and a boutique hotel (Bülow Residenz).

Transport

As well as several city card reviews (Nuremberg, Bonn, Cologne, Dresden) , we also review the excellent Leo Express in the Czech Republic, as well as the budget airline Wizz Air.

Things to do

There’s always a lot to do, wherever you travel! Jane Liaw tells us about popups and walking tours in San Francisco, and we explore Eat the World’s food tours in Hamburg and Berlin.

Books

Brian reviews How to travel the world on $50 a day by Matt Kepnes and Frommer’s Day-By-Day Travel Books, and Linda takes a look at Eating out and traveling on the Paleo diet by Aglaée Jacob.

Other sections

Our Gear section could do with a few more reviews, though we do have a few great products in there — Adventure Underwear and Bluff Works trousers.

Is there a way to download the mp3 to my phone from soundcloud? I don’t really want to sit in a cybercafe listening!

      Hi Jay,

Not from Soundcloud, but it’s really easy to get the show onto your phone.

If you’ve got iTunes installed simply click this link and iTunes will open. You can then hit ‘subscribe’ and it’ll download each episode as it comes out: http://indietravelpodcast.com/itunes – you can also easily download older episodes from there.

If you hate iTunes/don’t have a iPhone, there’s an mp3 version available too. Clicking this link on most phones will open the right program: http://indietravelpodcast.libsyn.com/rss If it doesn’t, let us know what phone you have and we’ll get the right program for you.
