Whether you call this continent Oceania, Australasia, or just Australia, this watery region is an amazing place to travel. It includes thousands of islands scattered throughout the South Pacific Ocean and comprises about a dozen independent nations, including the larger countries of Australia and New Zealand, in addition to many other dependent territories.
Life here is slow and relaxed, but there are plenty of opportunities for adventure, culture and exploration. Be aware that travel in Oceania can be more expensive than in other regions, as country hopping almost always requires a several-hour-long flight.
However, not everything is as remote as it seems: Australia and New Zealand are home to some of the most multicultural cities in the world, and both are famous not only as landscapes for epic films, but for their cutting-edge digital technologies too.
