Peru
After being delayed by the Chilean earthquake, we arrived a little late in Lima, but managed to meet Ange and Mark on the day they arrived in Peru. We headed north and spent too little time in the northern cities of Trujillo, Chiclayo and Chachapoyas, which were amazing. We all really enjoyed our time in Arequipa and Cusco – especially the Spanish lessons.
Bolivia
We spent a relaxing couple of days in Copacabana on the shores of Lake Titicaca, then headed to La Paz – we had a good time there, but it felt like one of the least safe places we’d visited. Our time on the Salt Flats of Uyuni was a much better experience – one we can’t recommend enough.
People
A real highlight of our trip has been the people. In Peru and Bolivia, we spent time with Couchsurfing contacts – both those we stayed with and others we just met with for a drink. Even the police were pleasant – though we would have preferred not to have spent so much time with them!
